How to Do Less & Achieve More

The Achievement Code #15: Do Less, Attract More

Empowered Soul,

Have you ever had a quote seem to pop up again and again?

Or, maybe it just struck your core and you remember it for that reason.

For me, Gabby Bernstein’s quote is one of those:

Thank you Gabby

It sounds almost too good to be true, doesn’t it?

Our instincts and society often tell us we need to hustle harder, to do more to get what we want.

I also think that “attracting” can sometimes be misunderstood as mere wishful thinking.

But, I don’t think that’s what Gabby meant.

This week I had a real breakthrough in understanding why this balance is so crucial.

So, if you’re ready to do less and attract more, this one’s for you.

Why You Need to Attract (and Why It’s Not Just Wishful Thinking!)

Gabby is an awesome attractor.

Though perhaps, not a neuroscientist, her attracting is based on neuroscience.

At a very simple level, our brain operates with two key components: the conscious and subconscious mind.

Conscious Mind

Truth Seeker

Yes

No

We are governed by both.

Our conscious mind handles our day-to-day interactions and logical thought.

The subconscious mind is largely driven by our past experiences, and crucially, visualised experiences (cue the next section).

The interesting, and sometimes dangerous thing about the subconscious mind is that it doesn’t distinguish between right or wrong.

It’s primary goals is to take everything we interpret in our conscious mind and turn it into a more efficient map of the world for our survival.

Since the subconscious mind is driving the majority of the our day, if we feed it the wrong information, it will work relentlessly to manifest that “wrong” reality.

So, while you might be rooting for the underdog here, the conscious mind, the subconscious mind is the real heavyweight and we need to get it on our side.

How to Attract (& Get the Subconscious Mind on Side)

The last section outlined that the reason we need to attract is basically to rewire our heavyweight subconscious mind, which can't distinguish between truth and falsehood.

This section will share some ways to do that in the pursuit of your goals.

I'm going to share a table with my three favourite methods for doing just that:

Method

Brief Description

Why it works

Affirmations

Short, positive statements repeated regularly to challenge negative thoughts, promote a positive mindset, and support desired outcomes.

Self-Affirmation Theory: Boosts self-esteem and maintains a positive self-view.

Vision Board

A collage of images, pictures, and words that visually represent your dreams, goals, and aspirations, serving as a source of inspiration.

Daily Motivation & RAS Activation: Constant visual reminder keeps goals top-of-mind and primes the brain to recognise relevant opportunities

Visualisation Meditation

A meditation technique where you create vivid mental images or scenarios to evoke emotions, promote relaxation, reduce stress, or achieve goals.

Brain Activity & Neuroplasticity: Activates similar brain regions as actual experience, leading to neural changes.

Examples

I’m trying to show instead of telling in this part.

  1. Affirmations

Here’s one of my current affirmations that focusses on injecting more adventure into my life and how I want to feel.

I repeated this a lot when I first wrote the affirmation in May, but now feel it’s part of my identity so don’t need to do it so much.

From experience, these fare much better when you write them yourself and don’t just blindly copy one from the internet.

  1. Vision Board

Here’s part of mine from the year I successfully went to 12 countries in 12 months.

In one of my trips, I ticked off three new countries: the first one being Albania with my friend Chris (3rd flag in the chain), before we headed to Montenegro (1st flag in the chain). Erin and I met there before we went to Bosnia (2nd flag).

I also went to Italy for the first time with my brother that summer (4th flag).

2023’s Vision Board

  1. Visualisation Meditation

I sit and listen to a track I like Experience - Ludovico Einaudi with a 5 minute timer on while focussing on the emotions that I want to feel from the new adventure in my life.

I also do this with other affirmations based on my priorities at the time.

The Code: To Attract More, Paint More

All of these attraction techniques share a fundamental principle: They paint a clearer picture for your subconscious.

Your subconscious mind isn't a passive recipient; it actually requires your clear direction.

By giving it greater detail on how you want to feel and what you want to see, you can powerfully encourage your subconscious mind to guide you on how to attract that reality.

In fact, the clearer and more detailed the guidance, the faster it's likely to happen.

That’s what I think Gabby meant: spend more time attracting by creating a clear picture, instead of chasing without one.

Your Weekly Challenge: Pick an Attraction Technique & Try it for a Week

To spend more time attracting, we need to embed visualisation into our routines.

Choose 1 of these:

  1. Write an affirmation for yourself and repeat it out loud once a day to yourself.

  2. Create your own vision board and save it as your phone’s wallpaper or laptop background.

  3. Close your eyes, put your headphones on and listen to Experience for 5 minutes. Use an affirmation, or just start painting the picture better.

Let me know when it works!

If this newsletter sparked a thought for a friend, or if they'd benefit from attracting more, feel free to share it with them!
