The Achievement Code
Your Weekly Guide to More
Why am I here?
Welcome to my very first newsletter!
For the past 5 years, I’ve been on an intense (& immense) journey of self discovery, pushing my limits in ways I never thought possible.
It all started with COVID-19. Having been to university, graduating with 2 degrees (one in law, the other Spanish), I was furloughed from my legal role at a Fintech.
This came as a huge shock and really changed my perspective on life. To have done everything right by society’s standards, and to then be told your company believed it could function without you was a bitter pill to swallow, making me question everything I thought I knew about my value.
Yet, this unexpected shock became a catalyst for where I am now, igniting a fire in me to redefine achievement and to explore my own potential.
This journey has led me to becoming a 5-time public speaking champion, a sub-18 minute 5km runner, and even to travel to 12 countries in 12 months.
Whilst those three may not seem connected, they really are. There are patterns to success, no matter the field.
For me, it often comes down to my morning routine.
I’ve begun to see the patterns and document my own ‘code’ to achievement.
That’s where my why comes in - my ‘why’ for starting this newsletter is rooted in a deep belief in the power or the individual to achieve - on their own terms.
Success isn’t defined by a job title, or societal expectations. It’s defined by you.
I’ve been able to do that, and now want to share the lessons I’ve learned, the strategies I’ve developed, and the mindset shifts that have propelled me forward.
So, if you want to achieve success, let me help with that.
The Code
I don’t want to be one of those clickbaity, disingenuous newsletter writers. I want to offer you value. Your time is precious.
Here’s the morning routine that I credit for my successes:
Element | Duration | Reason |
|---|---|---|
Push Ups / Planks | 5-10 mins | Strength & Discipline |
Yoga | 10-15 mins | Flexibility & Release |
Zazen (Meditation) | 30 mins | Mindfulness & Clarity |
Learning | 20 mins | Intellectual Growth |
I use Youtube (shout out to all the health & fitness youtubers) for the first three (for free).
Push up / Plank Follow Alongs → I recommend Igor Voitenko
Recorded Yoga Classes → I recommend Boho Beautiful
Zazen → I recommend Meditative Mind’s Frequency Vibrations in the background
For the learning part, I recommend reading a book, or listening to a podcast & writing summary notes. I sometimes practice my speeches too.
Anyway that’s enough from me for this one. I’m really happy with how this has gone, and hope you like it.
If you do, don’t forget to subscribe. I aim to do this regularly.
Keep smiling and achieving,
Dan
